I Know

Believe Me, child, I know you. I know you through and through. Don’t ever think I can’t love you: I know the silly things you do; And even as your sinful self, Don’t hide- I know you all too well. I know what you’re about to do, Know what you did before this too. I know your all-time favourite song, I know the times when you feel good. I know and love you when you’re wrong: I understand your ugly mood. ...To Your Notice

When you woke up this morn, I sat on your table. I’d been there through dawn, Bursting to share my tales. While you hurried to work, I nestled in your arm, Assured I wouldn’t be shirked; I’d be kept safe from harm. But now, I bear a stain And a little tear too- To see, you’d have to strain: But it’d make no difference to you. All day, you vow to spend time with me; The oven smokes, the phone rings. I wonder if you also see: I’m just another to-do thing. Where you last leave me, I’ll remain; I’ve got no place to go. Everyday, I’ll say the same- The same you need to know. Day, sun; night, moon: We still haven’t spoken. Tick, tock; all too soon, I’m on the table again. Sincerely, Your Bible.
