ROLLER COASTER

Lord, grant me all the things I need,
With Your own words, Your child to feed.
If You would but come into my life,
I’ll stand- I’ll face all earthly strife.
The pressures of this world are strong:
I fall and falter all day long.
And yet, for what You came to do
On earth, as Jesus, I’ll renew.
My friends on earth, they pull me down
To do the norms here on this ground.
And Lord, it gets so hard to see
Things, as You want for them to be.
Sometimes I wonder why I should
Do things the way You rather would.
At times, Your way seems hard to keep:
Hard, dry and rough- trust falls asleep.
I come to love my earthly ways
And start to make this earth my place-
But then You come in here again,
And You reverse the entire train;
And then I love You all over again.

Everyone seems to think I feign:
One minute, I preach;
The next, I breach;
The very things I know are right.
My thoughts get clouded, dark as night.
Dear Lord, I’m confused
Dear Lord, it’s no use.
There really is no point, is there?
Still, I wrong You- but still, You care.
I know You do- I know You’re here
Because when sin brings back the fear,
You always find a way to assure
Me that You are, that I can endure.
Father, no matter how I try,
The flesh comes back and starts to pry.
No matter how much I love You, Lord,
I hardly seem to follow Your Word.
I cower at every little threat
I read Your Word, then I forget.
I come before You, and I weep,
I try to pray, but fall asleep.

Lord, my life is one big roller coaster ride
And You know I cannot do without You by my side.
