THE AUTOPSY

I sit down to think:
Bout the boat that did sink.
I think of you and me:
Bout why we couldn’t be.
I sit down and realize;
Now I’m steady, and I’m wise.
That love is patient; love is kind;
And feelings are mostly in the mind.
Love is not a silly game
I should play to bear a name.
Love is serving; from afar,
True love shows who you really are.
It’s not really how I feel about that someone;
It’s how I’ll hold on; all said and done.
It’s not about together being an item;
It’s about being single and whole; and then-
God brings someone along the way
Who’ll grow with me through night and day.
It’s not needing a man to make me complete;
It’s being whole in God; like finding my feet.
Then when I’m ready, God will have sent
My soul mate who will complement.
I won’t have to cling- there will be balance;
With God as our centre; now that’s true romance!

…So, since this mutual decision was made,
I’ve sought, I’ve read, I’ve fasted and prayed.
Now, with the guidance from God I get,
I move on in life, with no regret;
Glad to have found a friend in you:
May God lead you in all you do.
I now see singleness for the gift it was:
The freedom to get lost in God
- And find myself.
