TELL ME

When I say ‘love’, what comes to mind:
An emotion savage; or oh, so kind?
Do you think about sunshine;
Moonlit walks in the sand?
Perhaps, some French wine,
Or two lovebirds holding hands?

When you hear ‘L-O-V-E’,
What do you feel?
A flutter, a gush?
Adrenaline: a rush;
Or your insides turning to mush?

When ‘love’ so deigns to come your way;
And you part your lips, what do you say?
‘Dear heavens’, ‘Oh my’,
Do you gasp; do you sigh?
Or do you leave the message in your eyes
To help an observer to surmise?

When ‘love’ hits you in the face, would you know?
How does it come; how would it show?
With thunder, lightning and a gust of cold;
Or with the familiar feeling of something foretold?
Would it wrap you up, leaving you warm all over;
Or does it stop your heart, and make the world turn slower?

When love is not at first sight, and creeps up on you,
And you first realize it, what do you do?
If someone you once thought of as ‘Just a friend’
Becomes your lifeline… the means to your end?
Do you bare your heart and tell it all;
Or around your emotions, build a wall?

When everyone seems to fall in love;
Even the birds, when you look above;
And you have no one to call your own,
This is the answer I’d most like to know:
What would you do, my friend, pray tell:
To end the turmoil of a teenage girl.
