Go Figure
Angst:
Bad boy supposedly reformed
The perfect girl enters his world.
You’d think he’d stick with her, won’t you?
But see, in walks girl number 2.
You’d think he’s smart to recognise
And shun Jezebel in disguise.
But no, he plays up to her lies.
Then goes on and does the unwise.
Confess? What for? He’d rather hide;
Brush all her suspicions aside-
And when the truth finally comes out,
He’ll say he’s sorry, cry and pout.
He’ll turn to candles and romance
Until he wins his second chance.
But to make an offence a crime,
The same happens a second time-
A third; and something has to give;
Just how much can one girl forgive?
Only when she has had enough
Does he decide she’s his true love.
Now it’s all over- ’xcept regret
But give him time, he will forget.
Astounding how they never learn;
I just don’t understand these men!
But still, the dogs are not to blame.
It’s the good boys should be ashamed.
The way they go about the thing,
You’d think good old romance a sin.
Here we are: good girls, one and all
You’d think they’d gather up the gall
But they hide behind ‘Praise the Lord’s
While bad boys sweep us up with words.
Can you blame me if I settle
For a bad boy if available?
I’d risk fasting and praying that
Someway, somehow, I’ll change his heart
Than wait for Mr. Holy here
To take his sweet time conquering fear.
Dare you call this a compromise?
Compelled, should I not improvise?
Bold in God; in love, meek as mice
I just don’t understand these guys!
Reason:
Little lady, brought up with class
Why stoop down from your grace to grass?
What kind of man do you search for;
One who can’t tell you from a whore?
Why throw yourself away on him
Who lives by hedonistic whim?
Today, you’re his one and only
Next month, another girl will be.
Is it worth being used like a rag
To hold on to a guy with swag?
Don’t walk this painful, tired road
There’s no gold after this rainbow.
Love is all you came here to seek
But you’ll leave with tears on your cheek.
And you can’t blame him if you knew
He didn’t know God like you do.
He is your dog; but not your breed
How can two walk if not agreed?
It’s God’s Spirit; and not your kiss
That can transform a man like this.
So until then, girl, take a bow.
You’re worth more than he offers now.
About the saints, it’s partly true
The lips of some are sealed with glue.
If it’s your soul mate you have found
Then give him time to come around.
Love is patient- and worth the wait
And fate has no expiry date.
But if it stays too long polite,
Maybe, he’s not your Mr. Right.
Whichever way, keep trusting God
If it’s His will, He’ll give the nod.
Your worrying won’t hasten time
So honey, pray and rest your mind.
Concerning love, the ways of men
Are difficult to comprehend;
But if romance is fun, admit:
Uncertainty’s the spice of it.
